Money is evil of all. Food comes in second. Almost everyone of us love to eat yummy-licious food. And we easily get fat if we lose control. How are we going to have a good diet? With delicious yet nutritious food of course! However, most of the time, nutritious food is less tasty. Don’t you agree?

Did I say “delicious”? There’s a way where you can gather all the nutrition from the World Wide Web.

del.icio.us, or simply pronounce as “delicious” is one of my favorite social bookmarking service. Social bookmarking is part of Web 2.0, and there are plenty of similar sites around. Some popular ones such as Technorati, Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.., is something that you can see frequently now, in the World Wide Web.

Recently, I’ve been trying to make full use of my del.icio.us bookmark. I signed up an account in del.icio.us some time ago, but never bother to use it to bookmark my favorite sites. I used to think that bookmarking my favorite sites locally in my PC is much easier, as I can organize them any way I like in my browser’s bookmark directory. In fact, you can do that too in del.icio.us. You save a favorite site, label with meaningful tags and lastly you can start organizing by bundling tags - grouping tags, just like category.

I find it very useful when I want to share the sites that I have bookmarked with Orange. Normally, I will bookmark my favorite sites in my PC and can only share with Orange whenever I’m in front of my PC. After using del.icio.us, Orange can just browse through my del.icio.us bookmarks and get access to the my favorite sites. Doesn’t it sound wonderful?

You can even get to know the “rating” of a site/article, when you see how many other users bookmark the same site. If a site being bookmarked by a lot of users, you know that that site is indeed a hot one. Social bookmarking also can let you discover many useful sites that you will never think of it. You can even be friend with other users in the network that share the same interest with you. That’s what social bookmarking is all about!

I like to use del.icio.us because it’s very straight forward. If you are a Firefox user, you can install the del.icio.us button extension to facilitate you bookmark your favorite sites.

This is my del.icio.us bookmark.

Do you use any social bookmarks?

  1. ChampDog Said,

Thanks for the tips. I do not aware del.icio.us is actually meant delicious. I always thought why this name so weird and end with the *.us* - united state. I haven’t given it a try yet, maybe later.
